Launching Our New Aircrew Legal Protection Scheme
We’re thrilled to announce our new bespoke Legal Expenses insurance scheme designed specifically for commercial airline pilots and aircrew.
The new scheme provides cover for the legal costs of pursuing or defending certain classes of legal action, including; representation at inquiries, personal injury and employment disputes – both pursing an action against an employer and defending a claim.
The policy offers worldwide jurisdiction (including North America) and provides a substantial £250,000 Limit of Indemnity (£1 million annual aggregate limit) to defend or pursue legal rights in the above circumstances.
With a highly competitive flat rated premium, policyholders benefit from having access to legal advice and representation as/when required. A significant and valuable component of the scheme is access to a free 24/7 legal advice helpline. Policyholders can speak directly with a solicitor for immediate advice and assistance in respect of any matter affecting their professional activities.
Mike Dickinson, Marketing Director at Russell Scanlan, comments: “Many pilots and aircrew are aware of colleagues having legal difficulties including court action or worse in some countries following an incident, then having to fund expensive legal fees themselves. Our new scheme protects commercial pilots and crew members from such aviation-related legal expenses so they can feel more secure knowing that they’re automatically protected for up to £250,000.
“There’s a growing need for schemes such as this and we already have a number of clients taking advantage of the highly competitive premiums for the peace of mind that they won’t personally be left facing significant legal costs in the unfortunate event of an incident at work. Importantly, the insurance provides independent legal advice/representation and financial assistance to the individual policyholder in contrast to any Trade Union representation which pilots or aircrew might be reliant upon. A potential conflict of interest can arise between the various Aviation Unions and Commercial Airlines.
“The new scheme has been specifically negotiated and underwritten by an ‘A-‘ rated, multinational insurer, and few other policies on the market offer the same breadth of cover and limits, as standard.”
