Bowling into a summer of sport
“You can’t turn anywhere at the moment without there being some mention of sport, be it the Football World Cup, Wimbledon, or England’s Cricket Test Series against Sri Lanka. One thing they all have in common is sponsorship. Whatever the sport, at whatever level it is played, having the financial backing of a business is vital to the success of that club and its players.
“Many sporting organisations rely on this type of partnership, because it brings in money to support with marketing and ticket sales, as well as general expenses associated with equipment, coaching, hosting fixtures and travelling to matches. Their support is very much appreciated, and I hope the staff there are enjoying what promises to be a better season for Leicestershire County Cricket Club!“Whilst we’ve yet to win one of our four day matches, we’ve had success in a recent 20/20 game. Compared to last season, this is already an improvement! For me personally, it’s been great to get back to full fitness after a long spell of injury. Spending the winter in Sydney playing for Manly Cricket Club was an amazing experience which really helped me get back into the game.“So far this season, I’ve already put in my best ever performance, taking 26 wickets in five championship games, with three, five wicket hauls. My goal is to reach 50 wickets by the end of the season, and hopefully this will help the team secure a respectable mid-table position.
“As for the football, my money’s on Argentina to lift the world cup. But the competition’s tough and they’ll have their work cut out to achieve that! It would be brilliant to see Andy Murray win Wimbledon again, and of course it goes without saying that I’m rooting for England to win the up coming Test series against India. Let’s hope the team pulls together and captain Alastair Cook proves his critics wrong and leads the team to success.”
