Russell Scanlan has been appointed as the new insurance broker for Derby based Moore Large and Co, a family owned company which specialises in distributing bicycles, accessories, parts and motorised products to the trade industry. Russell Scanlan is the UK’s leading insurance broking and risk managing firm, and was taken on to help Moore Large save money and better protect its business interests in what is set to be a landmark year.
With the opening ceremony of London 2012 less than six months away, Moore Large is building momentum as many Olympic hopefuls prepare to use their cycle brands as they go for gold. The Track, BMX, Road and MTB models are proving extremely popular, with some top cyclists getting ready to test their performance at the new Olympic Park velodrome later this month at the UCI Cycling Track World Cup.
Despite the recession, Moore Large continues to go from strength to strength, turning over between £23-£25 million per annum. The firm’s success comes down to its substantial market share. It distributes to 90% of the UK’s independent dealers, and also holds national accounts with high street retailers Halfords, Wilkinson’s and Tesco, plus large online firms Wiggle and Chain Reaction. In additon, Moore Large has established sponsorship relationships with high profile venues such as the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.
