Russell Scanlan Boosts Nottingham Team with Two New Appointments

Nottingham’s largest independent insurance broker, Russell Scanlan, has strengthened its team with two new appointments – a Private Client Account Handler and a Healthcare Administrator.

Joining the team, based at its head office on Wellington Circus in the city centre, as Healthcare Administrator is Chris Cunnington, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the insurance sector specialising in advising SMEs and larger corporate clients about employer sponsored benefits.

Chris’s brief is to develop and grow the business’s Healthcare arm, working alongside Account Executives in Nottingham and Leicester to promote the service to existing and new clients.

He said: “I join Russell Scanlan with wide experience as an Employee Benefits Manager advising businesses across a broad range of sectors, from SMEs to large corporates, on group private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection and allied benefits such as dental and EAP plans. I’m a firm believer that employer sponsored benefits are integral to the well-being of employees and help employers to attract and retain key staff.

“The business appealed to me because of the longevity of its good client relationships, its respected reputation and its size. I wanted to work for an independent and established business that cares for its staff, and Russell Scanlan ticks all of those boxes. The team has made me feel welcome already and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to developing the business’s existing healthcare offering and growing the service we offer to a wider cross section of customers.”

Also joining the Russell Scanlan team this month is Leiran Docherty, who has been appointed as a Private Client Account Handler having previously worked at NFU Mutual in Cambridge for more than four years and Vasek Insurance Ltd in Nottingham.

Leiran, who began her career with an apprenticeship in business administration, is currently working towards a Level 1 Certificate in Insurance (CII) – with the next stage being a Diploma in Insurance.

She said: “I love the customer-facing aspect of being an Account Handler – no two days are the same! The main part of my role will be sending out renewals and dealing with client queries, so there is the opportunity to learn something new all the time. The wide and varied client base at Russell Scanlan appealed to me, as did the business’s strong reputation in the Midlands.

“I’m keen to develop my skills through additional qualifications such as the Diploma in Insurance and already I feel really supported by the rest of the team to achieve those goals.”
