Russell Scanlan Gifts VIP Pantomime Experiences to Notts Charity

Russell Scanlan, charity donation

Nottingham based independent insurance broker, Russell Scanlan is donating four VIP family pantomime tickets to charity, When You Wish Upon A Star, after what has been a challenging year for the charity sector.

Working in partnership with Nottingham Playhouse, the insurance broker has decided to gift the tickets that are normally available to the firm as part of a very long-standing sponsorship partnership with the theatre.

Instead, families from Nottingham based charity, When You Wish Upon A Star, will experience the magic of pantomime with the full VIP experience, including ice cream and drinks at the interval and the chance to meet the stars of the show backstage.

Mike Dickinson, Sales & Marketing Director at Russell Scanlan, said: “This Christmas we wanted to do something to give back to our local community, and what better way to do so than the gift of live theatre! We’re thrilled to be sponsoring Nottingham Playhouse once again this year and to be able to work in partnership to bring this wonderful idea into action.”

Founded in Nottingham and also as a client of Russell Scanlan, the charity has one simple mission, to grant the wishes of children living with a life-threatening illness. Since the charity was founded in 1990, over 18,500 wishes have been made a reality for children all over the UK.

Mike continued: “Having known the charity, When You Wish Upon A Star, for many years as a client of ours, we are so pleased to be able to give something back and support the astounding work that they do, especially during such hard times for the charity sector.”

Alexa Wigfield, Regional Fundraiser at When You Wish Upon a Star, said: “We are extremely grateful to receive this generous donation from Russell Scanlan. The last years have been a difficult time for us, like many charities suffering right now. Sadly, over the past year we have had over 150 wishes on hold due to the impact of COVID-19. Yet with support from donations, and the thoughtfulness of firms like Russell Scanlan, we can continue to grant magical wishes for the children.”

Stephanie Sirr, Chief Executive at Nottingham Playhouse, said: “When Russell Scanlan approached us with the idea of donating its pantomime tickets to When You Wish Upon A Star, we thought it was an amazing idea, and were more than happy to offer our support. This year the families will be able to experience the enchanting classic of Beauty and the Beast as we reopen our theatre to the public this Christmas. We’re thrilled to be playing our part in offering the perfect festive treat to families who need it most.”
